I was looking for something very easy and quick to make for dessert. In addition, I did not want to have to use more than one pan or bowl, and of course, I also wanted it to be delicious. Thankfully, Brazilian cuisine came to my rescue with Brigadeiros. Brigadeiros taste very similarly to chocolate truffles. They can be coated with a number of things, from chocolate sprinkles to powdered sugar, or crushed nuts, which allows you to leave way to your imagination. So if you’re ever in a pinch for a very easy, yet very tasty dessert or sweet treat, consider Brigadeiros!
Brigadeiro Recipe
Meal type | Dessert |
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk (24 ounces)
- 1 tablespoon butter
- chocolate sprinkles, crushed nuts, powdered sugar...
Directions
1. | Combine the cocoa, butter, condensed milk in a medium sauce pan |
2. | Cook over medium heat, stirring with a wooden spoon to prevent the mixture from sticking to the pan and burning. Mix until the mixture begins to thicken and detaches itself cleanly from the pan when you stir |
3. | Take the pan off the stove. Once the mixture is cool enough to handle, but still warm, grease the palms of your hands with some oil and form small balls about an inch (1.5-2 cm) in diameter |
4. | Roll each ball in your topping of choice and set aside to let it cool |
Note
The Brigadeiros can be stored in an airtight container for a few days.
