Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • oil for frying
  • water

Directions

1. Pour flour into a large bowl add sugar, baking powder, butter and salt. Mix thoroughly. Add the milk and enough water to make a dough sticky to the touch.
2. Knead the dough. If it becomes too sticky, add a little flour to make it easier to handle.
3. When you are done kneading the dough, cover it and allow it to rise for at least half an hour. Heat up a frying pan over medium heat and then add some oil. Divide dough into small balls and flatten them to about ½ inches thick.
4. When the oil is hot (not smoking), place the balls of dough in your frying pan until one side turns golden brown and turn over to the other side for same results.
