Boiled Yam
Serves 4
Prep time 15 minutes
Cook time 20 minutes
Total time 35 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 medium-size yam
  • salt
  • Boiled water (half a pan)

Directions

1. Cut the yam in 4 or 5 big chunks horizontally.

2. Using a sharp knife, cut off the skin of the yam chunks in order to remove part of the yam itself (about 0.2 inch);

3. Cut each chunk of the yam in half vertically and remove the heart of the yam if it has little dots (that part is usually a bit bitter-tasting)

4. Wash and carefully drain the yam.
5. Cut the halves of the chunks in smaller semicircles (according to your taste).

6. Boil the yam for about 10 minutes or until you can prick the yam with a fork.

7. Drain the boiled pieces into a strainer for a few minutes

8. Add a little bit of salt.
9. Serve hot as a side dish, along with roasted chicken for example. Enjoy!
